David Shedd
David R. Shedd is a retired U.S. intelligence officer whose final post was as the acting Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency.〔Defense Intelligence Agency. (David. R Shedd. )〕 He is a former Central Intelligence Agency operative. According to ''Obama's Wars'', a 2010 book by investigative journalist Bob Woodward, CIA Director Michael Hayden used Shedd, then Deputy Director of National Intelligence, to physically demonstrate to President-elect Barack Obama the mildness of enhanced interrogation techniques, softly slapping and shaking him.〔Bob Woodward. ''Obama's Wars.'' New York, NY: Simon & Schuster, 2010, page 54 - "David, stand up please," Hayden said to David Shedd, the DNI’s deputy director for policy. Shedd rose. ==Education and early career==
Shedd holds a B.A. degree from Geneva College in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, and a M.A. degree from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service in Latin American Studies. From 1984 to 1993, Mr. Shedd was posted overseas in the U.S. embassies in Costa Rica and Mexico. Shedd has held a variety of senior management assignments including Chief of Congressional Liaison at the Central Intelligence Agency.
